Karima entered the field of mental health as a Day Treatment clinician. This role ignited her passion for the therapeutic process and working with those in distress. Karima found the work challenging and invigorating. Wanting to take patients beyond crisis stabilization and into the healing process she returned to school to earn a master’s degree in counseling with a Specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy.
She is passionate about helping people grow, heal, and live a purposeful life.
Karima works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has a heart for helping people come out of relational hiding patterns to experience greater safety and trust. Her treatment methods are highly eclectic–typically adjusting the approach to the needs of each client, involving behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, Solution Focused, and Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy). It’s not uncommon for her to use psychodrama, music therapy, and other expressive forms of treatment. She also looks to professional research and incorporate ‘best practices’ to help decide what approach may be most effective for a particular client. Karima views each person holistically and believes that many other forms of professional care can help facilitate change.
When Karima is not practicing the art and science of counseling she enjoys time with family, yoga, cooking, traveling, and anything outdoorsy
